Single-family housing foreclosures included in federal agency extension
The Federal Housing Administration issued a notice on Friday announcing the extension of the moratorium on evictions through the end of September 2021. The statement said, “mortgage servicers must continue to halt evictions for FHA Single Family Title II forward and Home Equity Conversion Mortgage (HECM) foreclosed properties.“ Exceptions made for legally vacant or abandoned properties. Foreclosures may be initiated, but borrowers and occupants may not be evicted.
“We must continue to do everything within our authority to make sure that foreclosed borrowers who are impacted by the pandemic have the time and resources to secure safe and stable housing, whether it’s in their current homes, or by obtaining alternative housing options,” said Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary for Housing Lopa Kolluri. “We don’t want to see any individuals or families displaced unnecessarily while trying to recover from the pandemic.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For HUD officials as they comply with the president’s direction to continue the stay on evictions.
- For the president’s administration as they look for ways to support the housing market and the economy.
